Pawphanage®
The ‘Pawphanage®’ is our special passion. Thousands of dogs every year are handed-in to shelters and abandoned. The Pawphanage® houses some of these dogs until we can find good homes for them.
The Pawphanage® has so far placed over two dozen dogs in homes where they are loved. We also foster dogs for the ‘Save-a-dog’ program, and help them in re-housing as well.
Our clients work enthusiastically to search out good homes, and some of our daily pups are those we have placed. How great it is to see them happy and healthy in good homes.
If you are interested in giving a good home to an abandoned pooch, or would like to help us in this work, please contact us at Doggie Day Care.
In September 2009 we rescued a new dog. Lorraine saw a dog in very bad condition being walked, and offered to take the dog off the owner's hands.
The owners demanded $250 from Lorraine to give the dog up so the dog could be cared for at Doggie Day Care.
Following the involvement of the RSPCA, Lorraine finally took possession of the dog, now named Maylee, which means "beautiful girl". She is a 7 months old Staffordshire, and had been subject to sustained abuse over a long period of time. She has a fractured hip and leg, no hair on her body, but has a beautiful nature. Jeremy (our vet), the RSPCA, and the Emergency Animal Hospital described Maylee's case as the worst abuse they have seen.
We will be keeping you updated on Maylee's progress on her own special page. Here you can also donate money to help her and other rescued dog's recovery.
