A good book is - Aperture 3 Portable Genius by J / E Anon
I use Aperture as it takes less memory than iPhoto and also has better function for
storing, sorting/finding, changing and printing the images.

But like all software if what you use serves you, stick with it.
New or other programs are not necessary better.
