ECU / Engine management system
If you are planning to do some significant modifications or a turbo conversion we highly recommend the standalone Adaptronic e420c unit.

Standard ECU features
- "3D" Fuel and Ignition maps (as on any sophisticated aftermarket ECU)

Just plug it in and load up the tuning software. Best of all your original ECU loom stays intact so installation is much neater with the freedom of returning to the OEM stock ECU. Only wiring required is 3wire MAP sensor, and optional IAT (intake air temp) sensor for engines that originally used a MAF sensor.
If you are looking to modify your Mirage/Lancer to the point of requiring larger injectors then a standalone might be what you need to get the most out of your setup. Some modifiers think they can just drop in some larger injectors without making changes to the engine management. The standard ECU does not magically know you have just increased the injector size and it surely cannot readjust its fuel map to suit larger injectors. The result is the car will run very rich (with air fuel ratios richer than 11.0) and lose power/torque. Other symptoms might be fouled spark plugs and black smoke from the exhaust under acceleration.
