How we do it here in Western Australia
.... Our current group:
The Carnaval group currently consists of 30 people including the "Council of Eleven", whose aim it is to bring the Carnaval tradition, principals and pleasures to all of our followers and those interested carnaval enthusiast in our community. All our official speeches and ceremonies are done mostly English as we have found that many of our attendees are people who are of different nationalities, hence the common language "English" allows everyone to enjoy the festivities.
.... Monthly Meetings and functions:
Meetings are held regularly every month where the team dream up a variety items for use during our functions and plan the entry themes for each "Annually" elected "Prince". We currently hold two main functions a year, although additional functions are being considered. The main "Prinsen Ball" is held during the Month of November each year, when the Prince is installed and invested as the leader of the Sandgropers. This is followed by the "Carnaval Ball" generally held in the first week of March where he "invokes his rule" and instructs everyone to have an enjoyable time, this is also the the time when he fires the cannon to start the "Jolly evening". But this date may vary as to venue availability and or whether the Sandgropers will be attending other carnavals clubs in the eastern states in support of the Carnaval tradition.

"Our Mascot"

.... The Name Sandgropers:
As our name implies, our "Mascot" is the Western Australian "Sandgroper" actually a common (bug) an inhabitant of the Swan Coastal Plain.
Although it's natural colour is brownish, we have coloured our Mascot to blend with the "Carnaval" spirit, and to reflect our Club colour's which are "black & Gold". The name also has reference to people living in Perth or for that matter in Western Australia who are termed "Sandgropers". This is a colloquial term applied to all W. A. inhabitants and has been applied as we mostly live on the coastal plains.

"Our Allegiance"

"Western Australian coat of Arms"

.... Our club emblem:
The "Council of Eleven's" emblem contains the black swan which is the emblem of our state W. A.; The flags are, on the left the Australian (Of course), on the right the Netherlands. However, we owe our allegiance to this country Australia which affords us its sanctuary and protection.
