Dear XXXX

Thank you for enquiring about the Migrant Bridging General Nursing Course.
The program consists of the following units, which you study as extension units either internally or externally. Not all units are offered externally every semester.

The course consists of four units as follows:
Sociocultural Perspectives of Health 132             cost: $A 475.00
Professional Practice Issues 214                          cost: $A 475.00
Nursing Bioscience 244                                         cost: $A 655.25
Professional Practice Contract 394            cost: $A 475.00

                                                                     Total cost: $A2080.00

Students undertaking this course may study fulltime or part time. Professional Practice Contract 394 must be studied concurrently with the other units or as the final unit of study.
In order to be eligible to enrol you must have a letter from the Nurses Board of Western Australia stating the you will be eligible to Register in Division 1 ? General Nurse on successful completion of a Migrant Bridging Course. If you do not have a letter of eligibility from the Nurses Board please apply to the Board for consideration for registration (Tel: 9421 1100). English competency required is as stated on your letter of eligibility. If you do not have the required English competency you may enrol in an English Bridging Program at this university as detailed on your Nurses Board letter.
The program begins in March and July of each year. Enrolments will take place in June/July for second semester and through TISC for the March enrolments.
Curtin University has an Orientation week one week before the start of classes for all students. During this week, students will have the opportunity to attend Library tours, study skills lectures or other activities that may be of interest to new Curtin students. It is also important that you attend the relevant session for the unit/s in which you are enrolled. Unit outlines and assessment will be discussed, and tutorial groups finalised.
During the semester that you study Professional Practice 394, a 2-day clinical workshop will be held at Bentley campus during the first tuition free week of the semester, which will be compulsory for internal and external students. The Professional Practice Contract 394 unit will include at least two weeks clinical practice that will, if possible be arranged at a hospital near you. If you have any further queries about the program please email me at L.Davidson@curtin.edu.au or telephone on 9266 3056.

Sincere regards

Laura Davidson
