Hi my name is Wendy Tuckey I have been involved with showing and breeding dogs since 1994 although my start was with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier it didn't take me long to come to the American Staffordshire Terrier and in turn it didn't take them long to steal my heart. This wouldn't have happened with out the help of close friends and fellow breeders Darren Parsons and Jody Collins aka Tinnetyr now known as Allardamon and also Chris Findlay and Trevor Pritchard aka ToTheMax to all of them I'm very grateful for your input and support.
My first Amstaff Rambo AKA "Aust Ch Tinnetyr Nobodys Bizniz" was born in 2003 and was the first dog that I had the privilege of campaigning to a Australian Championship Title. I have in this time had 2 litters under my prefix Tajaki so I'm still learning and having a blast in doing so.
Since I now have 2 dogs from Kelly Taylors aka "Amseraphs" Kelly has been a wonderful influence in my up and coming endeavours and we both have some exciting and wonderful plans for the future. Lani Timms is also flying under the radar as she in a silent partner and the reason I now own Boston aka "Amseraphs White Rock Star" our pride and joy. All three of us have big hopes for this little man to follow closely in his dad's footsteps "American Champion White Rock Lone Star Dallas" a wonderful specimen and living till he was 15 years old a true testament for the breed in every way.
Tajaki doesn't have litters unless I plan on keeping, however when I do breed I always love to keep in touch with all the pups and their new owners and 90% of what I like to call the Tajaki Family do so even if it's only be email sometimes distance becomes an issue, as I have sent dogs all over Australia.
I personally don't know every thing about this wonderful breed as there is so much to learn but I do have the help and advise of wonderful people and breeders all over the world so please feel free to ask questions that is what we are all here for to help people who love Amstaffs understand and learn what is involved in owning and caring for this wonderful breed the best people, companion and most loving dog in the world (IMO).
I have been involved with the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of WA since 1994 and currently hold the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Webmaster. I also conduct the club training every Wednesday night held at the Canine Grounds in Southern River as one of the instructors and with the help of other committee members it is a great socialisation opportunity for dogs of all ages and you can learn some valuable skills along with good methods that work.
My number one tip for all of you looking into this wonderful breed is BSL (Breed Specific Legistration) make yourself familuar with this and help us fight these injust laws. If the powers to be get their way there will be no dog breeds that weigh over 15kg left for us to have part of our family.
Number two tip would be Health Testing ask you breeder what they test for and the results of this testing you have every right to know the results about the parantage of a pup you are considering to be part of your family life.
Number three would have to be temprement not all amstaffs are dog friendly and nine times out of ten it's not got anything to do with the breed or it's parentage. This is where you as the owner need to take appropiate steps and ensure you help raise a well balanced and confident dog. Lots of social events, other dogs being introduced and never over shelter your puppy from anything a puppy exposed to many different situations and animals will be one of the happiest. Another thing to keep in mind is not to put your dog(s) into situations you have no control over if you own more than one dog you should never leave your dogs alone unatended make sure they have their own space when the leader of the pack is not home.
