-- [ From: Calta Computer * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] -- Alex We have done a couple of projects in the past using Redac 70 protocol. Our approach was to use "bit basher" hardware to convert the 32 bit long Redac message into a standard RS232 serial port message (4 8 data bit bytes) . The conversion was bidirectional and permitted standard serial port access to the protocol. I am not certain if there are different flavours of the protocol but I have documentation dated December 1977. If interested please call or e-mail me direct and I can give you more specific information. Regards

Can anyone provide insights into REDAC - an bit oriented protocol used on Westinghouse EMS/SCADA's of yore. I would be interested in: . any doc available? even an overview would help. . knock-knock.... any users out there? . anyone know of available protocol converters? . anyone with experience in writing REDAC drivers? . who has an RTU (or PLC) with this driver proven? Thanks Alex

Dear Alex I'm not familiar with REDAC, however I'm working with Westinghouse UK's SCADA system using WHISP+ or possibly the forthcoming IEC870
