Mike, I am an authorized Motorola Moscad VAR and an Authorized Wonderware SI. I'm not sure I totally understand what you are trying to do, so let me give a first-pass understanding and you correct me if I'm wrong, then we can go from there. Understanding #1 You have three different facilities, I don't know what equipment makes up these systems (RTUs/PLCs, transmission medium, protocol, etc). Each is completely indepedent of the other. These three systems may be performing totally different applications. You want these three central computers (the HMI machines) to share data. Understanding #2: Yoiu have three facilities which right now do not have scada applications running or have applications that will be replaced. You want ONE central computer that monitors all three, with the transmission medium being RF (MOSCAD

Sorend. another product you may want to look at (but it is probably overkill here) is the Motorola MCP-T. this device connects your moscad radio system into a TCP-IP network. In any event, good luck and yell if I can help. jack

Industrial SQL server of Wonderware

I am interested on your opinion, and Experience, with Industrial SQL server ofWonderware. Thanks in advance.

InSQL as the locals call it(industrial SQl to the world). This is a "Realtime Relational database", it is not just an historian. We have installed just over 40 servers so far, with maybe 1500 clients, on many sites. InSQL is not to be compared with a SCADA historian, this a proper plant historian, to be only compared with the likes of PI and Setcim. I installed a pilot today with only 50 tags within 4 hours the total system was paid off, this is due to data been available, in a form where you quickly access, and powerfully query. We have one site which is currently running 9 InSQL servers oner the plant, and are currently logging 56000 tags every 2 seconds,(all 56000 tags every 2 seconds), the clients number 600, and running MSWORD and Excel, having built standard template reports using MSQUERY. They have about 50 users usining the trend tools, and the frequency analysis tools. I am lead to belive byWonderware that they are concentrating on the development of the client tIools, and the shifting of InTouch's alarm system to InSQL for a plant wide alarming system which is ODBC complient(this is expected end of the year). If there are any questions please respond. product. InTouch is a product(MMI/SCADA), Wonderware is an Industrial software developer, who developed InTouch along with another number of Factory Software components. Tim

At 23:55 11/08/97 +0000, you wrote: I think it's a reasonable low end MMI package. There are lots of products at the same low end MMI level -Citect,Wonderware, Intouch, etc. to compare with. Don't try to do anything too fancy with it and don't try to make it too big and it'll probably keep you happy. Anyway, that's my opinion.

I agree with Gregory...I would rather do an application inWonderware's Intouch. I've done work with both and Intouch is a lot more user friendly and stable . I'm busy with a production monitoring system which involves connecting to 104 machines in our factory. The SCADA is already 14000 tags large, contains 52 screens, runs about 700 condition scripts, about 50 datachange scripts every minute, and has 13 continuous DDE conversations of about 250 tags each. This is all running on a Pentium 200, 64 Meg Ram. No problems so far.
