Process Simulator - SCADA

Fri, 15 Aug 1997 12:49:21 GMT

Good Day! We are looking for a simulator software that can be used to simulate process in a geothermal power plant.

The process comprises a steam supply system, steam separators, turbine/generator, heat exchanger, cooling tower, gas removal system, tanks, etc.

We need some package that can be used to interface to the existing SCADA system via some communication link.

The intention is to use the simulator to train the operators, and test the system by using the same interface as the operators are used to.

The existing system is a networked P-CIM from Afcon. A description of the system can be seen at www.rt.is/pcim.

Best regards

The package which we use is Parogon which is supplied by Nemasoft. It is a micro DCS product with sufficient capabilty to provide low fidelity simulation of the process yet high fidelity of the controls and operators interface. The UK distributor is Intech Controls, Chichester. The system runs under Windows 95 or Windows NT.

ALTRA has extensive experience of provideing the type of simulation which you mention using this package. I shall contact you directly next week. I have found Autosketch extreemly useful for producing schematics. It is a much cheaper and easier to use product than Autocad yet the productivity of the draftsperson can be very good, if you get yourself organised ok. It produces Autocad compatible drawings (both directions) and is cheap and very easy to use.

have you considered "ARENA" by Simualtions Modeling company? I have used several times to build simulations. This is great software. Barry
