What is the Parents & Friends Association (P&F)?
The P&F supports the Catholic ethos, Christian community spirit and educational programs of both the College and Primary School. The P&F raises funds to support the educational, social, emotional and physical needs of the girls (and boys) enrolled in the schools. It also supports the staff. The P&F provides an outlet for parents to meet parents, to hear about school issues and to become friends. It gives people a very real opportunity to become involved in a “hands on” way in the schooling of their children. A few times every year the two principals put up a facilities “wish list” before the P&F. This is then discussed and supported. Many of the amenities the schools now have are a result of the financial support of the P&F. Examples include:
Primary School
- Audio equipment across the school
- Mathematics equipment across the years
- Music equipment.
College
- Refurbishment of a General Purpose Learning Area into a Science Lab
- Band Banners for the Music School
- Shelving in the Sport Centre.
P&F Committees
There are two major committees that form part of the P&F: the Men of Iona and the Iona Auxiliary.
The Men of Iona provides a forum for Iona dads to be involved in the schooling of their daughters (and sons). The Men of Iona are involved in several service activities and social functions.
The Iona Auxiliary promotes fellowship and hospitality within the Iona community.
