Another of the early settlers of this State in the person of Mrs. Sarah Osborn, relict of the late Mr. W. J. Osborn, farmer, of Dongarra, died at the residence of her son, Mr. H. Osborn, M.L.A., New- castle-road, Midland Junction, last Friday. The deceased arrived in Western Australia in 1858 with her husband, who had accepted in England an appointment as a warder at the Fremantle prison. Mr. Osborn did not remain long in the Government service, and he turned his attention to farming, which calling he followed until the time of his death in 1894. The remains of the late Mrs. Osborn were buried on Saturday in the Middle Swan Cemetery. The chief mourners were Messrs. W. H. Osborn (ex-Sub-inspector of Police), H. Osborn, M.L.A., E. Osborn, C. Osborn, and S. Osborn, sons; Mrs. Cavanagh, Mrs. S. Hyde, and Mrs. A. Ferguson, daughters; and a large number of grandchildren. The pall-bearers were the Mayor of Midland Junction (Mr. P. Robinson), Crs. Jamieson and Ross, and Messrs. .P. Sampson, M. A. Wishart, and J. B. Miller. Many wreaths and floral tributes were received. The Rev. F. J. Price officiated at the graveside. The Sunday Times Sunday 17 October 1909 Page 7 of 24 OBITUARIES Mrs Sarah Osborn, a resident of over 50 years in Westralia, and mother of Mr. H. Osborn, M.L.A. died on Friday week, at the residence of her son, Midland Junction. The deceased lady was the widow of the late Mr W. J. Osborn, who was a warder in Fremantle prison, and subsequently a farmer at Dongarra. The funeral took place last Saturday. The chief mourners were Messrs. W. H.
