My name is Jenny Buckingham and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I was born in Bruce Rock which is a small country town 150 miles east of Perth. My family were wheat and sheep farmers. I attended Bruce Rock Primary School, travelling into town each day on a school bus.

When I was 12 I was sent to boarding school in Perth so I could go to High School. I stayed at Swanleigh Hostel in Midland and attended Hampton High School. I stayed there for five years.

In 1974 I began nursing training. I went to the Government School of Nursing and spent time at several hospitals, mainly Swan Districts Hospital and Northam Regional Hospital.

At the completion of my nursing training in 1977, my girlfriend and I went on a lovely 6 week cruise. This cruise took us to New Zealand, Rabaul, Guam and Japan. On the cruise I met my husband-to-be and so did my girlfriend. Even more surprising was that my husband Kevin slept in the bunk below my girlfriends husband!! It's a small world.

In 1979 I married Kevin Buckingham and we moved to a small duplex in Bassendean. Soon after we bought our first home in Wembley. Later we built a home in Woodvale which is where we still live. During this time I continued to nurse and I worked at Swan Districts Hospital and St John of God, Subiaco.

In 1983 our daughter Helen Louise was born. Our son Steven Noel was born in 1987. Steven was the first Buckingham boy born for thirty years. There were many happy grandfathers and uncles that day!! Helen is now nearly 20 and loves animals and acting. Steven loves sport and is interested in everything apart from schoolwork

I have many and varied interests that keep me busy. I have a great interest in Genealogy and have been plodding away at it for many years. An Aunty of mine began researching many years ago when there were very few records available and it was she that encouraged me to develop an interest in family history. I decided to research my family history as my "Bicentennial Project"! I naively believed that it would take a mere few months to get all my ancestors located and branded. Needless to say I am still searching after ten years - and I haven't even started Kevin's side yet!

As I have grown older I seem to be developing many eccentricities. Never one to merely dabble in anything, once I develop an interest in something it soon becomes a passion. We bought a rabbit for Helens sixth birthday and from there we have progressed to breeding and showing rabbits!! If you want to look at some beautiful pictures of Rabbits, go to the West Australian Rabbit Council page.  I have also begun doing Patchwork and Quilting and this too has become a real passion. Knitting (a dying art) is another interest of mine. All these "hobbies" of mine fight for my time and I find there is never enough hours in the day - especially when there is work and a household to run!

Hope you enjoy my Pages and come back again soon.
