LakeMacUkestra
Tuesdays - 2-4pm - Speers Point
After we started the Ukastle Ukestra in November 2009, we
realised how much the uke was appealing to 'retirees', and a
lot of people seemed to be from the west of Lake Macquarie. We
thought a daytime Ukestra could work, and it has! The
LakeMacUkestra is more intimate than the Ukastle Ukestra with
smaller attendances. This allows us to provide more personal
tuition, and the older repertoire is generally tailored to the
participants, none of whom one would call a shrinking violet
(though shrinking violets are indeed welcomed)! The smaller
afternoon format suits some people very well. The cost for the
LakeMacUkestra is $10.
We get a lot of people from Morisset as well who make the
trek up to the Five
Islands Recreation Club at Speers Point (right behind
Pipis at the Point) each Tuesday at 2pm.

The photo shows our early days gathered at the Teralba
Bowling Club.

Jenny Bates (now Marchant) came out from ABC 1233 and did a story
on us back in May 2010.
