manuscript assessment & development
What's wrong with a manuscript may be something the author has repressed all knowledge of, and needs an editor to identify and point out possible solutions. Fitzgerald had written three drafts of Gatsby when his editor gave him feedback on it. Only then, he said, did he write something he was proud of. (Blake Morrison)

Whether it's a first draft or a finished manuscript, professional feedback can help you develop your writing to a publishable standard.

With an assessment we provide:

  • a written report with detailed advice about structure, content, language and style
  • suggestions and queries annotated on the manuscript
  • specific exercises to apply to your writing
  • a consultation to discuss the main issues in the report and to brainstorm possible solutions
  • advice on publishing proposals and grant/funding applications and how best to approach publishers and agents.
You may repeat the assessment process with subsequent drafts.

Rates: assessment can be on the basis of the full manuscript (starting from about $500 depending on length) or on a short sample with synopsis (flat rate $200).
