February 2003 - Retracide wins in intraclub match:
This Sunday Retracide enjoyed a leisurely pre-season intra-club
match in air conditioned conditions at Fleet studios, Jandakot.
The ground was flawless and made for a comfortable days play. The
day went without incident with the exception of an incident involving
the bass player Aaron Perry waking up late and arriving to the match
30 minutes late.
Two shortened games of 83 minutes were then played. New 'Cide' vs
Old 'Cide' by an originals vs covers match. The new vs old fixture
gave some of the Retracide newcomers a chance to showcase their
talent. Arachnacide and Double Barrel showed exceptional form and
are expected to shine in the up and coming Rottnest One-day international.
On a dark and sinister note comes the news of injuries to 'A damn
body car' and 'Magnetic'. The injuries at this stage are indefinite
and questions are looming as to whether they will take their places
in the line up ever again. The aging Retracide favourites are expected
to struggle against the talented crop of young tracks pushing up
the ranks.
Game two saw the originals slaughter covers such as 'Killing in
the name of'. The covers never looked like winning and their performance
has been put down to a lack of match practice. However 'Handle me
with care' and 'Rocking in the free world' were standouts. There
was no contest against the superior sounds of 'Fortify' and 'Broken
Down'.
Retracide look impressive on the track and much is expected from
them on their overseas tour of Rottnest this Wednesday.
