4th of May 2003 - Band Wif The Loudest Fans at the Leederville Hotel:
Retracide played at the Leederville Hotel this Sunday as part of the band with the loudest fans competition. Quite frankly the hotel will be lucky if Retracide ever show there again. The competition was a shambles and was a disgrace to sponsors.

Participating in the event were Retracide, Diablo and Patient Zero (Zero being the amount of talent in the band). To get proceedings underway Diablo played a decent set in which they were constantly told to turn the volume down to the point where it was nearly an acoustic set.

Second up was Retracide with a shortened set, they had to fit 45 minutes worth of entertainment into only 30 resulting in an entertaining sequence of events. The sound guys weren't happy with the attention they were getting, so they constantly told the 'cide to keep volume to a minimum. Anyone would think they were running 'the band who could evoke the most conversation' competition.

Last and certainly least was 'Patient Zero', where to begin? This was the most boring band I've ever listened to. Their fat fuck of a singer struggled through the longest 30 minute set I've ever had to sit through. They turned 2 minutes worth of decent music into a 60 minute eulogy. I've had more fun listening to Mr. Reynolds at high school assemblies.

This raised the question, on what day did god create patient zero? And
couldn't he have rested on that day to? Patient Zero's lead singer, rumored to be an employee of the Leedy was able to turn up all amps and even mike up the drum kit. A stark contrast from when Ben Marshall was told to tap softer on his drum kit to abide b the "noise restrictions" that were in place for other bands. One fan likened the contest to that Linux versus Microsoft.

I don't mean to be rude, but when I'm made to sit through 60 minutes of shit then a band deserves to cop this much criticism. In the end I had zero patience left for patient zero and went home to wind down with a good Pauly Shore flick.
