Welcome to my Dragons Page
Dragons appear in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some people see dragons negatively, others see them as bearers of good luck. Dragons are generally portrayed as being lizard-like, more often than not they have wings, and come in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. They are often mysterious and misunderstood.
Western Dragons
Western dragons differ extremely from each other. They are usually named
by their body-type and/or their habitat. Western dragons usually have four
legs, the front legs often used normally like human arms & hands. They have
two wings usually jointed above the front arms, a long tail and neck with
scales, hide or fur. They come in all colours and shades which are usually
adapted to where they live. Their feet and hands usually have long sharp claws
on them. Many of these dragons can breathe fire and extend their flame as
far as 20 metres depending on the dragon. Their life span is very long and
within these years they gain a lot of knowledge, wether they use that for
good or evil is up to them.
The following are different categories of western dragons.
Firedrakes are usually from Germanic or Celtic mythology. They are
said to live in caves and guard great treasures. They breathe fire to defend
themselves.
Lindworms look like Wyverns, but without wings. They eat cattle and
bodies, and invade churchyards. Lindworms symbolise war and pestilence. Also
called a Lindorm snake.
Peists come from Ireland. They live in the water.
Puk are small four-footed dragons. These dragons bring stolen goods to their
rightfull owner. This all started as a myth from Germany until realized that
it was more likely a real story than a myth or legend.
Wyverns look a bit like serpents. They have wings, and two legs. These
legs look like eagle's talons. They also have a barbed tail. These dragons
symbolise envy, war, pestilence, and viciousness. Wyverns without wings are
called Lindworms.
Zalty serpents are guardians of the home. In modern Baltic tradition,
they live by the stove.
