"Wry humour, heavenly harmonies and smarter-than-your-average-bear lyrics
make these gals with guitars a must-see!"
A Doris performance usually features a sizeable dose of irreverence and fun. Topics given the Doris humorous touch include chocolate obsession, PMT, the never-ending quest to be fashionably thin, the way they'd like to be dumped (over lunch, please) and even a satirical ode to George Bush entitled 'Righteous Man Waltz'. Sadly, we doubt he'd get the joke.
What makes Doris a little different is the sheer range of material covered, from heart-felt to humorous; fed-up to well-fed; poignant to, frankly, pissed-off; deliciously happy to decidedly hormonal.
Here's what WA journalist Patrick Cornish said about Doris last year:
'I've rarely enjoyed such an excellent performance of MUSIC and discussion of LIFE ITSELF...you were not just putting on a skilful show, you were letting us into your dreams, disappointments, challenges...we were laughing WITH you and feeling FOR you.'
And we didn't pay him a cent. Honest.
