"TOR-oh-SAW-rus"
The Torosaurus (piercing reptile) was about 25 feet long. Torosaurus had a horny beak, a small horn on its nose and two large ones pointing forward above its eyes. Its massive skull measured up to 8.5 feet long which makes it the largest known skull of any land animal.

Collecting the Torosaurus
This big boy came out at the tail end of Series 1, and is a little harder to collect than the others. Keep your eyes peeled and you shouldn't have too much trouble.

The dinosaur uses the same body as the Triceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus, but with a unique head sculpt. Its colour scheme is that of dull browns. Check for wear on its horns, beak, feet and tail.

Gunnur has a fairly unique sculpt (Boldar is the only other figure to use it) and represents the gruff veteran of the cartoon. His outfit is mostly brown, with red shoulder pads and blue gloves. Magnus uses a very common Dino-Rider sculpt (that of Sky and Orion), and can be easily overlooked amongst his clones. His outfit is predominantly blue, with brown boots and tan sleeves. Look for wear in the usual areas.

There may look like theres a lot of components to the Torosaurus, but they connect together when assembled, so you should be able to gather most of it in one go. The parts you'll most likely have trouble with are the many gun tips, grappling hook, grappling cable, winch pieces and winch spring (!). The winch spring and grappling cable can be replaced with similar substitutes. The silver armour of the Torosaurus scratches VERY easily, so be careful if you want to keep yours in pristine condition.

Variations

This guy turned up on eBay a little while ago. Is it a knockoff or an early version of the Torosaurus? The mould is almost the same as the regular Toro, except it lacks the raised 'spine' piece that holds the armor in place, and its jaw line is straighter. There's also the different paint scheme, which strangely matches the box art of the Torosaurus more closely than the real thing!

If anyone has any further information about this guy, please let me know!

Torosaurus Notes
The Torosaurus has the Series 1 group painting on the back of its box, as well as Series 1 accessories and comic book. The toy though is not pictured in the back of the comic book with the rest of its Series 1 brethren!

The Real Torosaurus
This huge, horned dinosaur lived 65 million years ago, right at the end of the Mesozoic era. Like all horned dinosaurs, Torosaurus was a plant-eater. Its horns were used both to defend itself from meat-eating dinosaurs and to fight rival Torosaurus. The bony neck-frill was a base for its powerful jaw muscles. At over 2.5 metres long, Torosaurus' skull is larger than that of any other known land animal.
