The Commando series was released in 1989 and featured six elite Dino-Riders characters: Astra, Bomba, Rok, Kameelian, Faze and Glyde. Each Commando was an expert at their specialty, be it camouflage, munitions or climbing.

The Commandos shared the same body sculpt but had differing heads. Each came with a helmet, a chest armour and gear specific to their talent. Astra wields interchangeable weapons. Bomba comes with protective armour and a mine detector, Rok comes with a repelling hook, Kameelian has a pair of disguises, Faze has rocket-launching armour and Glyde comes with a glider.

The Commandos starred in several episodes of the cartoon, including one where they had to work together to bring down a dam crafted by Krulos. There was only one series of Commandos.
