1989 DINO-RIDERS Assortment
Series 3, Collection 1 No. 9135

The Quetzalcoatlus (Aztec serpent god) is a pterodactyloid with a thirty foot wing span. It is by far the largest known flying creature. After the Quetzalcoatlus died, there were no more pterosaurs. They became extinct near the end of the Mesozoic Era along with dinosaurs, plesiosaurs, and many kinds of plants.

Collecting the Quetzalcoatlus
Out of all the rare Series 3 dinosaurus, the Quetzalcoatlus is the most common. Keep an eye out for them on eBay, as they will appear from time to time.

The accessories for the Quetzalcoatlus are fairly unique so you shouldn't have any problems identifying them. There has been mention of a red-tinted stand, but my copy is completely clear. It appears to be red on the packging, but that is only because of the background it is shot against.

The Quetzalcoatlus itself uses the same mould as the Series 1 version, but with a striking yellow and black colour scheme.

Algar has a Series 2 Rulon body with an alligator head. His head is green with a pastel green stripe on top. His body is mainly shades of purple, with a yellow triangle.

Tyco 1990 Catalogue: Here is a terrifying new sight with its Rulon Brain Box and hand released wing bombs. Rulon "ALGAR" is strapped in under the giant flapping wingspan of the Quetzalcoatlus.

The Real Quetzalcoatlus
Quetzalcoatlus was the largest flying animal known to scientists. It had a wingspan of 12 metres - as large as that of a small aeroplane. Quetzalcoatlus had a long neck and a small head. It lived in Texas during the Cretaceous period (136 to 65 million years ago).
