Hi my name's Jonathan aka Lauie. I'm not sure how you got here
(and I dunno why you would want to!) but anyway.... I used to
go to the University of Western Australia, and my favourite pastime
would have to be sport - mostly playing it, sometimes watching
it too.
Notes
Thursday 31st January 2002
Ok here is my stupid flash animation which I did this morning.
Yes, it needs a lot of work, but hey it's a start. And I wasn't
exactly planning to do anything with it anyway.
Saturday 17th November 2001
Woohoooooo!!!!!!!!!! Finished my uni course! Well, I finished
my exams yesterday, and I guess depending on my marks, I might
not necessarily have finished quite yet.... but fingers crossed
anyway. Time to partay!!!!!!!
On other notes, Lleyton Hewitt has just been declared the world's
number 1 tennis player after beating compatriot Patrick Rafter,
and is the youngest player ever to reach this pinnacle. The Socceroos
play Uruguay on Tuesday in an effort to qualify for the World
Cup (soccer, obviously).
Oh yeah, everybody should also check out the website SchoolFriends
- a website that basically allows you to get into contact with
your old school friends.
Wednesday 24th October 2001
Alrighty. Uni's nearly finished for me, but it is jam packed
full of things due - I've still got about 6 things due in 2 weeks,
and that's not including exams afterwards! Bloody ell..........
4 things due this Friday though, so that'll be them out of the
way in two days time. Pity none of them are done yet :(
Other news, we got caned in basketball again (our mixed basketball
team) because we can't shoot for sh*t. Maybe we could have used
MJ (Michael Jordan, for the uninitiated) who scored 41 points
for his team the Washington Wizards in the NBA comp. Amazing.
I wish I'm like that when I reach 38.
Oh for those of you that know me, you might wanna check out http://www.lauie.com
(thanks Voon for this hahaha) - oh and check out the pictures
page, where you can see me in a tutu (well my namesake).
Monday 16th July 2001
Well this is the third week of uni mid year break, and today's
pretty much the first day that I've had to relax. Birthday party
last Friday night went well, and got to catch up with heaps of
people. Exam results weren't as good as I'd have liked, but I
didn't fail anything, which is always good :)
Back to project work I guess.
Friday 15th June 2001
Hmmm well university first semester exams start again for another
year (and hopefully my last year). Haven't exactly been studying
hard yet due to organising other stuff, and of course, mucking
around.
Stayed up and watched the Australians score 212 (or something)
in the one dayer vs England, and I think I heard my sister mention
this morning that England could only manage 80 something - I'll
check it out on the web later, but that's absolutely ridiculous!
The commentators were saying that Australia wouldn't be happy
with the total (since it was quite low for that ground apparently).
Oh well.
The local AFL teams the Eagles and the Dockers are going absolutely
crap, with the former on 2 wins and the latter on none! Methinks
they'll be on the bottom for the whole season unfortunately, if
their form doesn't change quickly. The Dockers have a good chance
against St Kilda tonight though and many tipsters have picked
the Dockers to record their first win.
Well well, what do we have here, but another long break from
an entry. I guess this is because I've been using my spare time
elsewhere such as in doing homework, or going out, or just generally
other stuff!
Anyway, not a lot has changed, although we did win our first
basketball game two weeks ago! It was a bit of a romp, winning
38-12. Last week though was certainly a disappointing game, and
we did let it get away in a section of the game, losing 38-25.
Hopefully we can rectify it this week against a team which contains
a couple of my friends from work.
Site: www.finalfantasy.com
- the official site for the Final Fantasy movie coming out very
shortly - fully computer generated, and looking very cool.
Friday 20th April 2001
Had a good time playing tennis and basketball with a friend of
mine yesterday! Definitely a good workout. Should be a good night
tonight as well - going out to a friend's birthday party in Northbridge.
Found an interesting game on the internet available for free
on Blue Byte Software's website - www.bluebyte.net/smack-a-thief/
- pretty much self explanatory really. A bit like the game Whack
a Mole.
Sunday 15th April 2001
Well well well......... nothing much to really talk about! Went
to church, then had work. Work was quite busy, but certainly not
up to the usual Sunday standards. Saturday, on the other hand,
was really busy! Caught up with two friends today though who I
haven't caught up with for a long time, so that was good. Bought
myself a nice little hifi unit for myself too :)
Here's a funny picture I saw recently........
Friday 13th April 2001
Man, things have been really hectic around here. Just like to
take this opportunity to say Happy Easter to everybody though!
Friday 6th April 2001
Just a quick entry, as I'm sorta trying to do some work here.
Australia just won the cricket against India (one dayer) with
2 overs to spare, which means they clinched the series 3-2. The
Wildcats lost the first in the best of 3 against Wollongong though,
so they'll have to pick up in the remaining two games.
As for our mixed basketball game this week - well the less said
about it the better, although it can be said that we played crap
and definitely under our potential.
Heaps of stuff to do now, so gotta get onto it. Tetrinet is providing
a disturbance though - go to www.planettetrinet.com for the game,
and then connect to tetrinet.org through your tetrinet client
program to play.
Sunday 1st April 2001
Wow work was busy today! Lots of people, and lots of people buying
too. Saturday was relatively quiet, but in terms of sales it was
still busy.
Just like to thank Pete for a great 21st birthday party yesterday
- you rock dood! (in other words - old fart.....) and thanks J
& M for a nice get-together Friday night.
Site of the day - well the football (Aussie Rules) has just started
again, with both the WA teams losing. Fittingly, you'll get all
(well most) of the goss from the Official
AFL website.
Monday 26th March 2001
Work was definitely interesting on the weekend - got to wear
casual clothes on Sunday and do a spot of ticketing - also had
an entertaining "information" session. Saturday night
at Valentino's and Paramount afterwards was good - there was a
"who looks best in less" model competition at the Paramount
that night, although to be quite honest hardly any of them looked
best in less.....
Picked up my "3 Doors Down" cd today which I won about
a week ago, and am listening to that at the moment.
The Wildcats did a spot of thrashing on the weekend, winning
by 35 points - 110 to 75. Australia lost to India once again (after
losing the Test by 2 wickets), but this time in the one-dayers,
falling about 60-ish runs short of India's massive total of around
315 (can't quite remember the exact figure for now).
For any of you that like tetris, and haven't heard of tetrinet,
go get it! Go to www.planettetrinet.com
and download the game there. It's basically 6 player tetris over
the internet with powerups and teams and other cool stuff!
Tuesday 20th March 2001
Great basketball game guys! It was a very close match, but unfortunately
they ran away with it in the end, with the final score 37 to our
31. Anyway, very encouraging signs, although we suspect that the
team we're playing next week is even better.... so we'll need
to be at our best next week if we are to have any chance! And
quote of the day from my sister - PISS OFF! (stated loudly at
a 6 foot guy opponent).
Australia seem to be faltering in the cricket once more, falling
for under 400 when we were in a good position of around 3/340......
and now India are well above 400 in their first innings score.
Site of the day - www.egreetings.com
- for your online free cards, gifts and invites.
Saturday 17th March 2001
Things are starting to get a little busy, which is why I haven't
made an entry here in a little while. Anyway work was pretty good
this morning - lots of things to do. We lost our first basketball
game as the other team had three guys taller than our tallest
player! Plus they all had a clue how to play, while we were still
figuring things out :) It was a lot of fun though, and we've worked
on things for next week's game. Although Wein, Ingrid and Amra
have injuries now - hopefully they can recover before then.
Pity about the cricket - Australia, instead of romping home in
the second innings, got walloped by Laxman and Dravid from India,
with the former scoring a massive double century, and we fell
away in our final innings, about 170 short of the winning target.
Oh well :)
Well I'm really excited about our basketball game tonight - should
be a cracker. Here's hoping though that the other teams are as
bad as us!
Apparently the Wildcats won by 2 points over the Melbourne Tigers
last night, so that was good. Hopefully we can pull something
like that off tonight! Any win's a good win!
Tennis last night was average.... none of us were playing that
well, but we had fun anyway. And it was a big attendance for Jim's
first circuit session.... Wein, Dave, Punny, Jim and I. I'm sure
you'll do better next time Captain!
Well if you still want to catch the cricket, go here.
Sunday 11th March 2001
Work today was really busy - lots of people buying stuff, that's
for sure. Yesterday was also quite busy, but not as bad. We had
a catalogue out though, so that could explain things.
According to my sister and her friends, the Wildcats game last
night against the Adelaide 36ers was really good and very entertaining
to watch - I'm sure it was, as the Wildcats handed out a thrashing,
winning by 35 points. A short time ago, in the Second Test between
Australia and India, Australia were 5/252, with Hayden scoring
97 and Langer 58.
I just have to say - Engineering
and Society 400 - that unit SUX! There's so many things that
we have to do that don't really have anything to do with our degree
(well not in a direct way) and it's going to take up so much of
our time (which we can't exactly afford due to project work!).
Even though the lectures are boring, apparently we have to take
notes on it even though we may not know what's applicable and
what's not! ARGH!
OK silly site: The Love
Calculator - A good site if you want to find out how compatible
you are with your current partner or maybe with some crush that
you have. I must admit I've tried it out...... c'mon high percentage.........
doh! 16%! Nah only kidding :)
Friday 9th March 2001
There goes the first week of uni (for UWA that is - for the other
unis, it would have been their 3rd week I believe). Can't say
it was exactly *exciting*, but it was certainly eventful - with
the mentor scheme (which we had a meeting yesterday for), basketball
team, project organisation, and sorting out subjects, there wasn't
exactly much time to think.
Wow... twenty five thousand car break ins reported to police
last year just in WA. Sports wise, not a lot has been happening
- Phillip Read of the West Coast Eagles requires a knee reconstruction
which will put him out for the season, Australia scored two 400+
innings in a practice match against the President's XI in India,
Wildcats won by 5 points against the Brisbane Bullets last weekend.
Website: Good place for 3d news, games, hardware, etc - VoodooExtreme,
or you could try 3dfiles
as well for similar related material.
Wednesday 7th March 2001
Hmmm - had 2 lectures yesterday, and 2 today - all different
subjects. Some of them were quite interesting, but I guess it's
just a matter of wait and see.
Tennis was ok last night, although for some reason whatever pitiful
excuse for skill that I had left me, and I was just hitting stray
shots all night. Steve even aced me! (I'll get you back for that
hehe)
Our first mixed basketball team meeting was today as well - that
was definitely "interesting", and it was definitely
cool meeting the people that we'll be playing with for the next
semester. To say the least though, I think we'll all need some
practice individually and as a team before our first game next
week!
There's nothing I have in mind to put up here tonight (as in
picture/link wise etc), but I've got some jokes that I might put
up tomorrow.
Monday 5th March 2001
Well the last comment yesterday was a bit of a lie - I didn't
actually have any classes today, but I went in to meet the mentees
and fellow mentor of one of my mentor groups.
My cousin Des rang up after that and asked me to go to Cottesloe
Beach with him and our friend Amnon so spent a good couple of
hours in the sun and surf. I stupidly body-surfed one wave too
far in though, and received abrasions on my stomach when I ran
out of water and body-surfed the sand instead. It was good fun
though.
Wein was here as well after dinner - played a bit of 2 player
Lode Runner, and he kicked my ass in Quake.
Site of the day: Well just a reminder about useful applications......
ICQ (Chat program), Winzip
(very useful zipping and unzipping utility used in many places),
Winamp (probably still the
premier mp3 player), Cuteftp
(for file transfer), mIRC (Internet
Relay Chat program - I don't get into this anymore though), Adobe
Acrobat Reader (reads pdf files which are commonly found on
the net).
Sunday 4th March 2001
Another relatively busy day at work today. Oh and thanks goes
out to Jan, Mich, Mel, and Jac for last night/this morning....
was good to catch up with you all!
Steve's coming over right now with his new computer for me to
help him set up, so there won't be any other significant entries
for today. There should be some next time though as uni starts
tomorrow!
Friday 2nd March 2001
Ark! The last weekday of "holidays" before uni starts.
Host day went relatively well yesterday besides a total mixup
which has now caused me to have two groups. Uni Orientation Day
was today - bit hot though. Groove Terminator was playing, and
there was a lot of other activities on around the place (but nothing
I haven't really seen different from the past few years). Bought
an engineer t-shirt though and signed up for a sport competition.
Hi to the people that I saw there - Pete, Jason, Logan, Geoff,
Heather, Kaye, Amnon, Steve, David T, Jamie, Ange.
Oh, and the funny Backstreet Boys flash movie - get it here.
Note: may offend some.
Wednesday 28th February 2001
Hmmm well just as I updated the webpage yesterday, iiNet's ftp
server must have gone down, so I've actually uploaded these entries
*after* I actually meant to.
Ehhhkneeway, it was my last day doing stuff at work, so bye to
all the people at Q-MAC Electronics - thanks for all your help
and friendliness - it was very much appreciated. And Steve, remind
us to catch your gig next week on the 10th - should be definitely
interesting.
Host day tomorrow! Hopefully I get some decent first years to
show around. A Hello goes out to Jay and Bec - hope your exam
went well guys! And a special hello goes to Linda too :)
Hmmm might as well stick with iiNet's Site of the Day - www.thunk.com
- a site that scrambles text that you type in, and can unscramble
ones that have been given to you from somewhere else. Aimed at
the kiddies, but a bit of harmless fun for us "oldies"
too *grin*.
Tuesday 27th February 2001
Wow - I've been really busy the past couple of days doing lots
of different things. Checked out the Pallas nightclub with Dave
Saturday night/Sunday morning after BBQ at Punny's. Work on the
weekend was relatively entertaining, and it wasn't as busy as
expected. Joined the uni gym today and straightaway got into an
exhausting Terminator circuit (u piker Dave!). Also had host day
training - that was a bit of a bore, although a couple of my friends
were with me so that made it a bit of a laugh!
Thanks Dave and Garth for the funny Backstreet Boys flash movie
- I'll upload it hopefully tomorrow as it's a couple of meg, and
I'm planning to go to sleep right now.
Oh and a mention has to be made in respect for the passing of
Sir Donald Bradman yesterday, our highest rated cricket batsman
ever, and an all-round Australian icon adored by many around the
world. He was 92.
Also Dale Earndhart, the 49 year old famous NASCAR driver, passed
away last week on the final lap when he was in/near the front
of the pack.
On a brighter note, for those cricket fans who love hearing funny
sledges, go to this website.
Last formal day at work experience! Thanks guys and gals for
all the help and experience you've given me over the past few
months - I'll catch up with all of you next week though.
Trying to organise to go out tonight but nothing's happening!
ARGH!
Oh and thanks Linda for these illusions! Go here
if you want to look at them.
Thursday 22nd February 2001
Not that eventful a day really. Thanks for this picture that
you sent me thru icq Samboy!..... I have to laugh at the idea
though! Apparently good for lans and stuff (for those of you who
know what that is) - the pic's from www.geargrip.com.
Wednesday 21st February 2001
Just doing a spot of reorganising/fixing up this webpage. Realised
it looks utterly crap at resolutions under 1024x768..........
for those of you using below this, it's time to upgrade your monitors!!!
COOL shareware program that allows you to print any document
to your normal printer, except that you can customise how many
pages it fits onto 1 piece of paper! It's an oldie (got it a while
ago) but a goodie.
Played tennis tonight and last night - both very entertaining
games (but unfortunately not very highly skilled *grin*). Also
checked out my uni timetable, and it looks like Mondays may be
kinda free for most weeks! WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Still, I'm not sure
I'm looking forward to going back to uni this year, even though
we get to go back 2 weeks after other universities.
Sunday 18th February 2001
Thanks Liz and Mars for the lovely champagne brekky this morning,
and best wishes for your trip and your pursuits in the future!
Cheers Mladen for playing basketball and cricket with me today
as well.... good to finally get some decent exercise besides tennis.
And woohoo!!! - first day off work in a while......... it's good
to get to relax for the whole day - almost forgotten what that
has felt like!
Playing Online Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.......... go here
if you would like to play it!!!
Saturday 17th February 2001
OK third entry for today - thanks Kaye and Andrew for this one!
If you can be bothered (it's a half a meg file - only a couple
of minutess to download) here's a word document that is sure to
amuse you (slightly, or a lot, whatever tickles your fancy) -
and it definitely isn't a virus. Click on the below link to get
it - you can also right click it and choose Save as....
Any jokes or good webpages or suitable things that you might
like to see on here - email to me - lauie13@hotmail.com
Saturday 17th February 2001
Quite a busy week this week, which is why I haven't had the chance
to make entries till now. Happy Birthdays to Gem and Pak, welcome
back Justin aka Wein from America after a year long exchange program.
Valentine's Day - hmm... well... the X-Files season opener was
good viewing! Stuff at work has certainly been moving along, and
sales at my retail job was really good this morning - sold heaps
of stuff!
Oh - thanks goes to Jim, Mash, Wein and Dave for the cool As*hole/Pokehole
card games we played at Jim's on Friday night (and thanks Jim
for the Pokehole name modification). Another thanks goes to feedbacker
for his errrr interesting erm banana picture.
Festival of Perth closing finale fireworks are on tonight too
- so gonna go and catch them. Oh, and sport results were pretty
crap for WA this week - so I'm not gonna even mention them.
Monday 12th February 2001
Just took the Bastard test, and the results are:
You are certifiably: 18%
bastard! 10%
of which is Tard
The worldwide average is 44% bastard.
How others compare:
0% (same as you)
4% (less bastard than you)
96% (more bastard than you)
If you would like to do the test yourself (for guys) click
here. Girls you can get the equivalent slut test here.
Forgot to mention that the Glory beat Sydney United in a goal
scoring frenzy 5 1 on the weekend.
Sunday 11th February 2001
Today was pretty hot, and it certainly was an uncomfortable temperature
at work. It was quite busy, but not that busy for a Sunday. Sales
were ok though.
The news that Labor romped to a landslide victory over the Liberal
Party in the WA state elections was pretty much all over the headlines
today. Wildcats got beaten by bottom of the ladder Cairns Taipans
by 9 points, partly due to a dominant performance by ex-Wildcats
Aaron Trahair (42 points) and Anthony Stewart. Also, Aaron Baddeley
edged out Sergio Garcia in the first play off hole to take the
Greg Norman Classic golf tournament. And last but not least, Australia
defeated Ecuador 4 to 1 in the Davis Cup - with the reverse singles
being dominated by Lleyton Hewitt and Patrick Rafter, beating
the respective Lapenti brothers after the brothers fought out
a tough 5 setter against Todd Woodbridge and Wayne Arthurs 12
10 in the fifth set.
It's now pretty late in the night (11:20pm) as we just finished
watching Deep Impact on tv. Work tomorrow as usual so it's probably
time to head off. Although I am talking to some people on icq
and MSN Messenger as we speak, so maybe not just yet *grin*.
Likeable site: Messagemates
- Send a little animated program/message to a Valentine, friend,
relative or enemy from this website - lots of fun.
Saturday 10th February 2001
Well WA election day was today, and even though it was absolutely
dead at work I sold heaps of stuff in a short space of time, which
is very unusual.
Sports wise, the Australians beat the West Indies (again) in
the 2nd one day final, although it was slightly closer, with the
West Indies putting up a decent fight. Mark Waugh though put in
a stirling effort for the man of the match award (179? runs off
144 balls), but the decision for Brian Lara as man of the series
was certainly very confusing.
The Davis Cup is also currently being played in Kings Park here
in Perth for the matches between Australia and Ecuador. At the
moment, the Aussies are in a tough 5 set match with the Lapenti
brothers from Ecuador.
Thursday 8th February 2001
Hmmm impressive - I've made entries three consecutive days in
a row! Anyway, not much of an eventful day really - kicked the
football around during lunch break, and got a call from uni. Project
at work is finally coming along decently.
Just a quick two-second quiz for those of you who can be bothered:
What is the next letter in the following sequence? O T T F
F S S ?
Email me if you can't figure it out and just want to know, or
just if you want to gloat at how easy it was *grin*.
The following is a nice background suitable for your desktop
wallpaper or something. I got this off a friend, but credit should
go to whoever made it.
Wednesday 7th February 2001
(Thanks Steve) - cool website all about Jen from the highly acclaimed
Chinese movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" - click
here.
And yeah Mladjo I'm gonna try and figure out that puzzle tonight.
Tuesday 6th February 2001
Hmm woke up this morning with a sore back, and it's lasted for
the whole day. Not good. Tennis tonight was also not too good
- must have been a first serve percentage of 2%... ahh well there's
always next week.
Not much else happened today. Oh yeah a special hi to my cousin
Audrey - good to see you again!
For those of you who are visiting this page and you haven't seen
Perth before, here's a small picture. Click on it to enlarge.
Well well well - finally got around to editing this page after
what seems like an eternity (just look at the date below). And
contrary to what you might think Mladjo and Feedbacker, I am not
putting that helicopter animation on this webpage! Yuck! *grins*.
Steve aka Feedbacker is a renowned artist and musician who gets
a bit of airplay on RTR-FM amongst other radio stations (with
his strange brand of music), and is quite well known around the
place. See his funky website here.
Anyway now that I've got a new computer and finally reinstalled
the software that I previously used to make my webpage, I may
(note - may!) start to make changes to the webpage again, and
I'll try to add jokes and maybe even pictures or other additions
from time to time (depending on when I can actually be bothered).
At the present moment I'm working 7 days a week, so there isn't
a lot of time that I have spare.
Today was first day back for schoolies (including my lil sis)
and my big sis's first day at fulltime work. Best of luck also
goes out to Jan, Mich and Mel who also started work today - hope
things went well you three!
A big congratulations goes out to Jay and Bec also - best of
wishes for the future! And thanks goes to Dave's family for a lovely
dinner last night.
Bloody ell @ Channel 9 for not showing all the cricket coverage
of the Australia vs Zimbabwe one day match at the WACA (not that
I could have watched it anyway - I was at work) - it turned out
to be a very close encounter, with Australia (scoring 303 I think)
winning on the last ball by one run. Damian Martyn also scored
a match winning 144 not out......... go you good thing! The other
sport news was Michael Campbell of NZ winning the Heineken Classic
Golf tournament here in Perth.
I'm gonna look at the other pages tonight and make some subtle
changes here and there. Oh and if you want to see a very silly
small video, click here.

- Hehe I heard about this weird website that lets you download
free crazy answering machine messages that can replace those old
boring ones you've had on your machine for years.
Steve aka feedbacker's

thing on there - that would ruin the whole thing.

- For all things related to Quake, Quake2, Quake3 and other FPS
games, not to mention lots of other stuff games and non-games
related.
www.planetunreal.com
- Probably as the name suggests, this page deals with everything
to do with Unreal and Unreal Tournament - news, maps, mutators
etc, not to mention news on other games as well.
learnto.com - I heard this one
on the radio and thought I'd just take a look - only been there
once, but it seems to have tutorials and stuff on basically anything
you can learn to do - self explanatory really.
