Pre-Service trip

Road to Southbank Melbourne and listed the items that needed fixing on the bike, so they can get the parts in when I have the next service done.

The list is:

  1. The heater on the right hand side hand grip has failed. Replace.

  2. The speedometer fogs up and forms droplets of water on the inside of the front glass when riding in wet weather. Replace

  3. Right hand side fog light fills with water in wet weather. May just be the seal.

  4. The bracket that holds the rear reflector has fallen off through fatigue. Replace.

  5. The engine is running noisily, but not at idle speeds. The noise comes from the front of the engine. Some sort of belt tensioning?

  6. Oil seems to be dripping onto the front of the motor. A leak?

To this list I added another. When I stopped for petrol at Officer, I found that I couldn't put the side stand down properly. The springs were holding the stand back. I had a look underneath and spotted a plate that looked a bit out of place. When I touched it, it fell onto the ground! The screw that holds the plate on seems to be sheared! The plate protects the side stand swivel area from below.

Attended the monthly BMW Motorcycle Club of Victoria meeting at Kew and collected my 100,000 kilometre on 1 bike award. It's a social club award for a bit of fun. However, Scott at Southbank Motorcycles tells me he hasn't seen a cruiser with this many kilometres on it!
