The Remote Control: Part 3

Since I have heard nothing from Southbank Motorcycles, I decided to give Danielle a call.

"Hi, It's John Mazur, How's the situation with the remote control going?" I ask. Danielle responds with "The remote control is dead and it will cost $1xx to replace it." "That's all very well, BUT, I reported the fault within the warranty period, surely it's covered by warranty?" I counter. "Umm.. I'll have to check with Scott Norman" replies Danielle. I respond with "Fine, let me know what the result is.".

After a short delay Danielle informs me that Scott will have to check with BMW Australia to determine if the remote control is covered by warranty. "That's fine" I reply, "Give me a call when you determine the result".

I leave my work phone number and figure that not much has happened by 6:15 pm, so I went home from work.

(Playing Dobro and sleeping fills the time here.)

The next morning at work, I find a note from the admiistration staff that I have received a phone call from Southbank Motorcycles. That must have happened today, as the staff at work leave at 5:00 pm.

I ring back and reach Danille at the service desk. "Oh I called your work number, your mobile phone and even emailed you to contact you." she states. I said that "I'm very impressed at your thoroughness, what's the result of my warranty claim?". "BMW Australia have authrorised us to replace your remote control under the warranty" replies Danielle. Great, no complaints about the warranty. However, and this comes down to the inventory situtation again, it will take 10 to 15 working days and a visit to Southbank Motorcycles to complete the work.

The old '15 day' wait again. If that's one thing that is standard with Southbank Motorcycles, is that 3 week delay in procuring parts. Does that mean that BMW Australia don't keep a robust inventory as well? Seems to be the case. Just about everything parts wise seems to be ex-Germany.

I asked Danielle to give me call when the remote arrives.

I also ask Danielle if the mud guard extenders have arrived. Yes they have. I've arranged to have them installed when I travel down to Melbourne to have the new remote control calibrated.
