BM Motorcycles - 2

Finally the three week wait is over and I was able to take my motorcycle to BM Motorcycles.

There's was a hiccup in the plan in that I had to hire a car to travel back home as I had business at home that was too important to ignore.

I arrived back at BM Motorcycles around 5:00 and was given some interesting information. Interesting in the sense that it may or may not have anything to do with my vibration problems.

The problems found:

  1. On the right hand side, the pipe that runs from the head to the muffler has problems, serious problems.
The pipe is a double pipe, a pipe within a pipe. The internal pipe has ruptured and disfigured, causing exhaust gas flow difficulties and least of all a discoloration of the external pipe.

  2. The differential has suspect bearings, in the sense that they do not run smoothly and failure is not far away.

The priority of work is reasonably obvious, the differential needs attention urgently.

The problem is now sourcing the parts. I'm told two weeks will be the shortest time that parts can be sourced, so I'm booked in for the fifteenth of June. Thankfully this time I will have use of a loan motorcycle. I initially thought I had another three week wait, but was assured that business slows down in the winter months. I could have booked in earlier, but the delay is sourcing parts is the critical path here.

I'm also running low on tyres, so there's some more expense. I will do this locally though. Have to support the locals any way I can.

P.S. After having driven my car (which needs a new engine) and the hire car, I still prefer motorcycle travel. You just can't beat it to experience life.
