200,000 Km Service
Finally managed to get the bike to BMW for a major service.
I rode the bike down Thursday afternoon and was loaned a BMW F800 ST to ride home on. Quite an impressive bike and quite nimble in the city with plenty of power. The riding position doesn't suit me though: The lean forward, legs tucked up gets uncomfortable I found after arriving home. The wrists were telling me that they had had enough 'fun'.
The front tyre needed replacing and was offered some very practical advice. I had been using lasertec tyres but had been rather disappointed by their short life. I usually change three front tyres for every one change of the back tyre. Chris happily informs me that Metzler now make a matching front tyre (880 series), so I've had that fitted.
While Chris was working on the front tyre he noticed that the front bearings aren't running smoothly, so another item. All up I didn't get much change from $1,000.00. Still, things needed to be done.
The next item that will need replacement will be the battery. These cold/foggy mornings really bring this deficiency out in the fact that the ABS will not initialise correctly. After a bit of ride and warmer temperatures I can get the ABS to initialise.
