Why take up Riding?
I've wanted to ride a motorcycle for decades, but the time was never right or there were people that considered riding as too dangerous and actively discouraged me. Well that time has passed and I bought a Honda VT 250C from Traralgon Motorcycles and am having a great time.
Since I had no experience riding motorcycles I did an introductory course at TAFE's Newborough campus. That was a three hour course run on a Saturday. At the end of the course the six of us that attended were all riding around the training area.
I then booked in with TAFE to go for my L's. That was
an 8 hour course filled about 50/50 between theory and practice. I was going
quite well in my final test having completed two out of the four mandatory tests.
I was given the instructions for the third test and went to take off and stalled
the motor. BOOM! Instant fail. Let me tell you I wasn't all that happy. Out
of the eight of us only five passed.
I booked for the next available course which was in a weeks time and spent the weekend practicing at the Vic Roads testing area in Morwell. When I went for my L's the next time I passed. What a great relief.
Before I arrived at TAFE I had built up an image of me surrounded by teenagers! I couldn't have been more wrong. The average age of the participants would have been older than me.

This pic was taken at the Vic Roads testing area in Morwell where I spent the weekend practicing for my 2nd attempt at getting my L's. The weather started out sunny but ended up wet, more experience.
