Bright
Traveled to Bright for an 18th birthday and took the direct route, over Mt Hotham. Brr, pretty cold up the top. I really haven't sorted out the gloves situation. Must ask some questions about a good pair of warm gloves. The weather forecast was for some pretty wet weather but I thought I'd risk it as the weather was coming from the west and there was only a few drops of rain as I was leaving, I figured I could out run the rain. The plan held together as I arrived dry narrowly missing a few showers on the descent from Mt Hotham.
The way back was something else. It was raining as I left Bright and headed up Mt Hotham. Still cold and getting colder. Half way up the mountain the rain turned softer and finally turned into snow. Well I wasn't prepared for this and the road was looking slippery. A few turns of the road later and I decide that's it's too dangerous to continue, turned around and rode home via Wangaratta and Melbourne. The plastic pants I bought at Bombala did a great job in keeping me dry.
Not entirely happy with my Dririder products
| Extreme jacket | Stopped at the Shell station just past Wangarratta, filled up and reached into my pocket and found the contents rather wet. On closer examination I discovered that the pocket is made of plastic and had collected some water. I guess the pocket flap leaks. Not impressed. The lady at the next pump thought I'd spilled something on my self so much water came out of the pocket :) I'll have to try and come up with a solution to this. | |
| Highlander gloves | I thought the gloves were waterproof and found out to my disappointment that they weren't. |
Well apart from being longer, colder and snowier than planned I had a good time. My driest wet run yet!
