The Temple of Anuket

Although the Temple of Anuket has been in existence and w= orking ritual since 1997, we have only been an active working and training group f= rom 2002. Our temple premises are in Woodlands, although we also work in several semi rural venues, located within about an hour’s drive of the central city.

We are a modern day pagan temple emphasising personal choice, responsibility and awareness, in harmony with the natural Universe. We teach that there= is one Universal Life Force, or Energy, which is within all and links all, and that all expressions or acknowledgement of this energy are equally valid, as long as they do not profess to be the only true path.

Although we are an eclectic temple, taking our rituals= and understandings from many different belief systems, our temple deities are Egyptian and our quarter guardians are local animals named in Nyoongah, and these are the two systems to which we are most closely linked.

We tap into the wisdom of Ancient Egypt, with its abun= dance of god forms representing the myriad aspects of the Life Force energy; heav= ily grounded in the Earth, and our own lives here and now.

As did the ancient Egyptians, we focus first on self awareness and empowerment in conjunction with the natural world, leading on= to other magical and mystical exploration.

We have an introductory Outer Circle and a three degree sys= tem within the Inner Circle. The requirements and mysteries of the initiations are based on traditional = Wicca, although we write our own rituals, and structure each to the individual concerned.

At the moment (April 2004) we have 15 initiate members= , 2 more outer courters scheduled to initiate in the next two months, plus a nu= mber “affiliate” members and regular visitors to our festivals.

The Templ= e is led by a High Priestess but all initiates are expected to participate in group decisions, and the writing and facilitating of rituals and workshops.= We do not have a High Priest, however we do have two third degree priests with= in the temple.

Our members come from many different walks of life. We= have state managers, ministerial advisors, those in sales, nurses, carers, teach= ers, case managers, a plant operator, a reiki practitioner, a house husband, and a variety of different students, But in our temple we are a family, and our energy is one.

When we have an Outer Court running, it meets fortnightly and workshops focus on self, earth and energy awareness while also offering indepth instruction in meditation, visualisation and self empowerment. They also provide an overview of a vari= ety of esoteric topics which are researched, and then treated in discussion gro= up format.

The O= uter Court lasts for approximately 40 weeks, and during this time students are able to develop a relationship with other members of the group and an understanding= of how the Temple operates. This allows all to decide whether each participant should continu= e to become part of the Inner C= ircle of the Temple

Initiates also generally meet fortnightly. After initi= ation there is a six month Novices’ course which teaches the basics of Circ= le casting, energy invocation, and ritual performance. “More experienced” initiates take turns in presenting courses and workshops= on a variety of different topics= .

This = Inner Circle workshopping provides further explorati= on and experience in energy awareness and implementation, harmony and unity wi= th the natural Universe, ritual competence, deep trance work, and the energies= of several magical systems as they relate to the Self in the “here and now”.

As we believe was the practice of the ancient temples = of Egypt, = we encourage initiates to further explore the Self through :

&nbs= p; * Knowledge of the natural laws (cycles of nature, Gods or Natural Principles= )

&nbs= p; * The understanding of symbolism (we cover the Qabalistic, Western

Astronomical, local indigenous, and early/pre Egyptian stellar systems

specifically and also encourage mem= bers to create their own symbolic

system.)

&nbs= p; * The pursuit of mysticism, or the surrender of the me into the total fusion = of

Self and Unity.

As well as the regular fortnightly meetings, full and = new moon gatherings, and festivals, elemental and nature tuning in days or week= ends are held from time to time. These may include such things as sweat lodges, indigenous or bush awareness weekends, ocean or river tuning in days, vision quests, retreats etc.

Our festivals work the natural energies of our own Whe= el of the Year. These include the solstices and the equinoxes, traditional Wiccan= festivals, some rituals which we have created to celebrate our harmony with the Univer= se here and now, and various rituals which we feel work the energies of ancien= t Egypt.<= /p>

Some Rituals are for initiates only. Others are also o= pen to non-initiates. We also hold “open” festivals at least quarterly= to which we invite other groups, friends, family and interested parties in general.
