4th ASPAC 1997 - Bring Friendship and Better Environment for All


Asia Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention and Exhibition

Shanghai, China - Penjing & Shanghai Branch, Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture & Beijing Landscape Society

The 4th Asia Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention and Exhibition was organised and sponsored by the Association of Landscape and Gardening of Shanghai and the Shanghai Botanical Garden, and held from October 31 to November 2, 1997, in Shanghai, China. The theme of the event was "Bring Friendship and Better Environment for All" and was big success with hundreds of Penjing (Bonsai) and Shangshi (Suiseki) exhibited, and a many bazaar stands and a grand cultural show and arts performance.

This was the first time that the ASPAC convention had been held in China, the origin of the art of Bonsai. At this convention, there were 400 participants from 20 countries and regions including Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, India, Taiwan, the United States, Australia, Italy, Germany, and Peru, who came to enjoy the art of Bonsai in China.
