ASPAC
About ASPAC(The Asia Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibition and Convention) ASPAC, the first and largest convention to exhibit both Bonsai and Suiseki, has been held every two years since the first exhibition 'Friendship through Bonsai' in 1991 at Nusa Dua, Bali. Indonesia is the founder of this non-formal convention that came to be loved and well accepted by many Bonsai and Suiseki lovers all over the world. It later was held in Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Beijing, and then came back to Bali again. The reason for the convention was to encourage more people to enjoy the arts of Bonsai and Suiseki by sharing knowledge ond bring friendship among countries, and to create a better living in harmony with a good environment. Mr Paiman was the initiator and led the Indonesian Bonsai Society in deciding to hold the first ASPAC convention exhibiting both Bonsai and Suiseki. The Asia Pacific Bonsai & Suiseki Convention and Exhibition is not a formal regulated organisation with written constitution and fixed committees, but their members commit themselves to voluntary co-operation. The host country makes its ambition to warmly welcome the guests and show its very best Bonsai and Suiseki. For this reason there are many regular visitors, but each time many newcomers participate in the convention. Friendship and interpersonal contacts play a very important role.
