Shanghai Botanic Garden - Penjing Garden![]() Shanghai botanic garden is founded at a site for tree cultivation in1974, and now serves as one of the most tree planted areas in Shanghai. At this area of 81 ha there are more than 3000 species of plants peculiar to this region, including 108 sorts of rare plants or plants on the verge of extinction. In the botanical garden, many specialists and engineers are engaged in scientific research business, education, gardening, scene instruction, the interior design business treating plants, etc. An annual visitors count 700,000 or more people. ![]() The Penjing Garden which occupies 4 hectares is located within the Shanghai Botanic Garden. There are more than one thousand pots of Tree Penjing on display. Most of them have won prizes and many complments in exhibitions at home and abroad. 30 pots of Rock Penjing represent the spectacular landscapes found in China. The Penjing Museum was built in 1995 and it covers 489 square meters. The data of the developing history of Chinese Penjing is presented as well as achievements of "Shanghai Style Penjing" which serves the society and the people of the world. The newly built Penjing Exhibit Conservatory covers 443 square meters and shows all kinds of elegant and small Penjings.
