Eat your heart out Cameron Daddo, Neil Murray's back in town! There's no fake American accents on Murray's new album, no songs about The Last Waltz and 15 Minutes Of Fame sung to hackneyed Nashville arrangements. Murray has produced a real country album, with songs about the people of this land and the variety of their lives. On the other side of the spectrum, Murray has not turned into Slim Dusty either, These Hands is simply full of Murray's insightful lyrics - whether stepping into the shoes of Aborigines who have lost their culture due to the missionaries, or a truckie on the roads of the outback. The music is similarly eclectic, Murray is not above trying out drum programs and funky guitar workouts when he feels it's suitable. It's been a while between albums for Neil Murray, it's recommended you buy this one now as it could be a long wait for the next one.
