Marbelup Valley Railway - Freycinet Area Photos

Freycinet is the largest station on the Marbelup Valley Railway. It includes a passenger station, extensive goods yard, loco depot, several industries and harbour.

Southern Machinery

Southern Machinery is served by its own siding, and supplies agricultural and other machinery.

The structure is made from Design Preservation Models HO modular brick wall panels, with a few alterations such as increasing the height of the doors to suit S scale humans. The pitched, corrugated iron roof makes the building look more Australian.

A recent change (May 2008) is the installation of a gantry crane at the end of the main building, to load larger items onto wagons. The crane is a Walthers HO kit, but it doesn't look out of place on an S scale layout.

Freycinet Station

The station building at Freycinet.

The brick walls are HO modular sections from Design Preservation Models, while the roof structure is scratchbuilt, with Evergreen Models corrugated "iron".

The proportions of the station building were based on an existing station at Daglish on the Perth suburban rail network.

Freycinet Harbour

The grain silos and goods transfer shed were both completed in March 2002.

The silos are a Walthers HO kit and the good shed is made from Design Preservation Models HO modular brick wall panels.
