Infocom Command Control System

Until August 2004, the layout used an Infocom digital command control system. For historical reasons, I have retained this information on the web site, although the layout now uses Lenz DCC.

The Infocom system was developed in Australia in the early 1990's. It is not compatible with NMRA DCC systems but, nevertheless, it worked very well for 12 years.

Infocom Handheld Controller

One of the four controllers for the Infocom command control system.

The red dial in the top right corner selects locomotive addresses between 1 and 15. The adjacent switch selects locomotive groups A or B.

I have allocated A numbers to steam locos and B numbers to diesel locos, and the address corresponds to the last digit of the actual locmotive number. For example, W 945 is A5.

The green light on the fascia shows that track power is on.

Locomotive Decoder

An Infocom command control decoder installed in the tender of W 945
