Marbelup Valley Railway - Live TrainCam

TrainCam This page links to a live TrainCam feed from the Marbelup Valley Railway. The TrainCam has several viewing options:

  • Windows Media Streaming seems to provide the smoothest motion but, because it buffers the video feed, there is a delay of approx. 10 seconds from the actual layout.

  • The ActiveX option requires downloading a small applet for your browser. ActiveX has minimal delay but slightly jerky movement.

  • The Java version also seems jerky.
Some options have a zoom capability by right clicking on the picture. Feel free to try the various options and report any feedback via e-mail.

The TrainCam picture comes from a wireless video camera which is mounted in an S scale shipping container, which is mounted on a special flat wagon which picks up power from the track. The TrainCam wagon which can be placed in front of the locomotive or mid-train for a varied viewpoint. The TrainCam picture is also displayed via a small TV mounted on the wall of the train room, near Freycinet station.

The live TrainCam feed uses a USB Video converter to feed the picture into the MVR computer, and Webcam 1-2-3 software to generate the Webcam itself. At this stage, the live TrainCam does not have sound.

Note that the live TrainCam does not operate 24 hours per day, as it depends when I am available to set up the layout and computer. If the TrainCam and or trains are not running and you would like to see them, feel free to send me an e-mail. If I am here and not asleep, I will try to help. The Marbelup Valley Railway is located in Perth, Western Australia. Currently, in Perth it is:
