Hello and welcome to my contribution to the Gale Family Homepage.
The graphic below is my interpretation of a CATHERINE WHEEL with links to sites related to A BIT ABOUT ME
and MY INTERESTS. It's a bit fuzzy around the edges at the moment, but until I learn how to do a better one this will have to do :) Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

A Catherine Wheel is made up of a group of fireworks mounted
around the periphery of a wheel that, when discharged, forces the wheel to rotate on its axis.
The firework was named after Catherine of Alexandria who died in the early 4th century. According to legend,
she rebuked the Roman emperor Maxentius for his persecution of the Christians and converted the philosophers
he had ordered to debate with her.
Maxentius condemned her to be broken on the wheel, but, by a miracle, the wheel collapsed.
She was subsequently beheaded.
My name is Catherine Mary Gale nee: Baker. As you already know
I was born in Brisbane, Queensland on the 12th June 1952. My forefathers/mothers were of mainly Irish and
English stock. I come from a family of 4 children, an older brother Kevin and sister Tricia and a younger sister Jenny, all of whom
still live in Queensland.
My father was in the Royal Australian Air Force and stationed mainly in Amberley, just outside Brisbane.
We were fortunate that we only had one transfer and that was to Elizabeth in South Australia in 1961 for
about 18 months.
After leaving high school at the age of 17, I worked for a dentist as a Dental Nurse.
Seven years later I went on to further studies and became a School Dental Therapist.
KEITH,
CAROLYN, NICHOLE and
DEBORAH would have to be my first and favourite interests.............
I have always enjoyed sewing, machine sewing and hand sewing
e.g smocking, cross stitch, patchwork and quilting. I have made several quilts, some of which are for the girls beds,
wall hangings and mystery quilts I have done on the internet.
I have attended some classes to learn these skills, but most knowledge was gained through experience
or shared with a group of Mums I met from the girls school
..along with a lot of tea, cake and chin wagging.
I have recently joined the Western Australian Quilters Association and a local quilting group called Sandy
Patchers. The sewing days and nights are a great way to meet with other quilters, sharing their knowledge
and friendship.
Some quilts, crafts and other things.........
I enjoy going to the movies, BRAVEHEART, being my most recent
favourite. Mel Gibson and SEAN CONNERY are at the top of my best actors list.
Sports
.I dont play any sport (but enjoy the almost
daily constitutional walk and a game of golf when I have the opportunity to play with my Dad when I visit Brisbane).
Winter time is the best time for spectator
sport and AUSSIE RULES is a
game I have been converted to since coming from Brisbane.
I love listening to music, any type of music from THE BEATLES
and ELTON JOHN (I still listen to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on vinyl) to classical and sound tracks
from some
shows I have seen, such as PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, LES
