Today I returned to work with some dread. It was okay though because my manager is away till the 17th and everyone is feeling lazy which is nice. I took the day slowly and kept my to-do list small, and survived unscathed. But I still don't want to work there. The only thing that makes me stay (apart from rent), is the fact that no one looks over your shoulder and makes sure you're working. It's just the full time part that is making what I need to do very very hard. But I will keep going until I can sort my situation out. At any rate, as long as I can pace myself instead of flying into everything headlong maybe I will be alright for the next month while I keep looking elsewhere.
We all got sent a Post media release today about the companies contribution to the tsunami relief effort and I thought I'd put it up here, it's an interesting contrast to what Joli posted and I did wonder whether this is a donation as a private business, or government organisation (given that its AP). My workmate said it was a private donation but I'm not sure, maybe it is insofar as it comes out of the business profits:
The Managing Director of Australia Post, Mr Graeme John, today announced a substantial aid package to assist those countries affected by this week’s earthquake and its terrible aftermath.
The package includes:
• A $250,000 cash donation to CARE Australia for relief efforts throughout the region.
• The offer of Australia Post’s 4,477 retail outlets (more than 2,500 in rural and remote areas of Australia) to serve as a collection point for cash, cheque or EFTPOS donations to the CARE Australia fund. Post is not in a position to accept any other form of donation. This service will be available in Post outlets on Tuesday following the New Year long weekend.
• The services of a heavy uplift Boeing 727 long-range jet aircraft from its joint venture company, Australian air Express, to provide cargo services to assist the relief effort. The aircraft, designed specifically to carry containerised freight, has a capacity of 18 tonnes.
• National Jet has agreed to donate engineering services for the aircraft, as well as crew, while Qantas has offered to provide the fuel.
• An offer of technical support and assistance from Australia Post to fellow postal organisations affected by the disaster to rebuild postal infrastructure.
I am trying not to eat carbs after 5pm. It's surprisingly hard! Even my soymilk has sugar added to it. <3 soymilk. Light soymilk tastes so much nicer than light cows milk. Although right now my blood sugar is going 'what? fuck you!' It sure does make breakfast more enjoyable though. Tomorrows breakfast is a banana, strawberries, muesli and soymilk chucked in my blender. <3
I'm dizzy :(

It is nice to see some donating at the more generous end of the spectrum. It is a shame that more are not doing so, it makes some Australian businesses look really tight compared to some of what is being donated overseas.
Australia Post like Telstra is a Privatised business that has a controlling interest owned by the government and therefore wouldn't be included as a government donation, its definently a private business donation (That would have to have the boards approval that probably one or so seat may be filled by a "government approved" person). But good on them I reckon!
