On a side note, my sis had her first day back at uni today. The subject was "The Social Construction of the Self" (or sociology for the most honest), and was promptly told by the crazy hippy lecturer (her words) that in that subject, they were going to "disprove psychology", because "we deconstructionalists don't believe in psychology". Then at the end the lady showed a breakdancing video to reinforce the 'coolness' of the subject. I am still cringing from that conversation. Seriously what fucking tossers. Apparently psychology breaks things down and 'labels' them. This is what the lecturer said. ?!?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!? My poor old sis, there appears to be some war against psychology and psychiatry. And this nutty temp at centrelink told me how SHE studied psychoanalysis and that ALL psychiatry was bullshit.
And you know what? I think it's all just jealousy.
(Don't even get me started on how these pomo bastards take perfectly good scientific theories and find some distant similarity between it, and life, and reconstruct it into an unresearched argument. And if anyone knows the name of that book written by the scientist who disproved a whole lot of postmodern theory on the basis that they didn't understand the science they were boring from - let me know it because I've forgotten and finally want to read it).

Aren't psychiatry and psychology a bit different in their study? Isn't psychiatry the medicine branch, but psychology has a broader application (incorporation of other disciplines like sociology and anthropology)?
I thought lecturers were supposed to expose you to all ways of thinking and not just their own. Weak teaching.
Yeah they're totally different to each other but it seems that everyone who has studied something else in a similar field hate both.
I thought lecturers were supposed to do that too...esp sociology ones. What is the world coming to?
