Phew okay I've been procrastinating quite heavily with study because of this blasted test. Today I downloaded a previous test and thought I'd just try and do it quickly to er, 'ease' myself into it ;) It could have been worse I guess, I got 19/30 (63%) off the top of my head, and in one swift stroke learned the value of a practice exam! My main weak points are stoichiometry (maths ;) and the names of ionic compounds. The other mistakes were lazy stupid ones where I didn't try because I thought it was too hard, and upon re-reading slapped myself :P

Also I've found that the uni teaches it in a different way to the book and all I have to learn from is the book (the lecture notes only went up to week 4) so a couple of times I've got things wrong due to different conventions. I wont complain about this, god knows what they use on the gamsat so I'll be happy to learn. What does shit me though is that the website provides additional practice problems...but not their answers!! Argh!! serps Dad said that the trick (if you will) to chemistry, is to do as many practice problems as you can lay your hands on. I have to agree!!

I just stopped blogging then for a moment to look at the website for this subject. It had a list of the weeks that the assignments were due...and I saw that Assignment 3 was due a week ago. Needless to say I just had a big meltdown, tears and self-recrimination and all, one of those horrible nightmares where you walk into the classroom naked. Then I opened up the supplied study guide to put in the dates of all the following assignments so it wouldn't happen again...and discovered that it's not due for a week and that the website obviously hasn't been updated for a while. ARGH ARGH ARGH. Poor old serp he found it all a bit scary and funny ^_^ Yeah I get worked up about this shit.

I am taking this test probably a little too seriously too, they say its 'open time, open book' but to take it under test conditions as much as possible. Being the all or nothing person that I am, I want to do it under total test conditions and do it WELL. Hence all the procrastination and stress. I can do it with my chem book at my side and take longer than the requisite hour, but that's not going to help me on the gamsat at all. The gamsat isn't going to give me the list of solubility rules or charges on the atoms. I think I need to make flashcards for the final exam. That would really help I think. I'm going to stop now before I get a hernia.
