It is carried on by five national institutions with participation of local governments and social actors. It is sponsored by IDRC Canada, UNDP and the Uruguayan Government.The Project Area extends over 350 Km and includes up to 7 miles on the aquatic part and from a few hundred meters to up to 10 Km on the terrestrial part. 		Programa de Manejo de Recursos Costeros (PMRC) - Ecuador The program of Coastal Resource Management begun in 1986. It is an attributed Organism of the Ecuadorian Republic Presidency, with its seat on the city of Guayaquil. It's purpose is to improve the quality of life ofæ communities that depend on the coastal resources and work to achieve, with the State's help, to maintain a strong development all along the ecuadorian coast. This initiative arose due to the knowledge of the actual ecosystem management and to the continuous pressure into which it was submitted by men. Their actions took place on specific geographical areas located on the coastal provinces and directly with the affected people, with the purpose that they could identify which were the priorities on the resource development and for the constitution of the local audience that supported each priority.
