Coastal Zone Management, Van Hall Institute, Leeuwarden, The Netherlands
(in Dutch, English, French & German)
Description: Students of Coastal Zone Management learn how to become
facilitators in the coastal region. They need to learn to balance potentially
conflicting interests that exist between socio-economic activities,
and the need to preserve the coastal region‚s ecological qualities.
The programme has a broad scope in order to educate students to become
generalists with an overview of coastal zone management and with excellent
communication skills. Besides learning about the coastal zone, for example
ecology, fisheries, economy, engineering and tourism, there is a strong
emphasis on teaching communication and management skills.
