Welcome Baby Serafina - we're back in Egypt!
Its been a great year! On July 1st I bave birth to baby Serafina Helena, and we are now back in Egypt. Motherhood is wonderful, I'm really enjoying it. Here are some photos of her.
During my pregnancy, was quite busy organising the A-Z Training event and the upcoming Sphinx Festival. Also, I spent some time working on Farida Fahmy's website and getting her archival images and project work into electronic format - so now her UCLA Thesis is ready for the public. www.faridafahmy.com Its been a total pleasure working and sharing with Farida, an icon of Egyptian dance history.
So, now that all that has been done - its back to preparing the courses and working on presenting the best Sphinx Festival possible. The end of the year is shaping up to be a rich, full dance experience in Egypt. Here are the two main upcoming events:
NOV 2009
We're looking forward to the international A-Z Teacher Training and first ever Assessor's courses in Cairo in November. I'll be joined by Suzanne Oehlers and Paola Blanton. I'm very excited about this event - this special large-scale training course is the first I will have facilitated in a few years. The web page is here, plus there is a new PDF you can download now.
DEC 2009
I am organising the Big Event -the Sphinx Festival @ Le Meridien, Pyramids Hotel from Dec 1-5 2009. The event is a culmination of dance, art, music plus Egyptology, Pharonic history and Sacred Geometry. Egyptian dance icons Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy celebrate their 50th Golden Jubilee in Dance at the Festival. Liza Laziza presents an "elemental" theme dance with a full Egyptian musical ensemble and the program is full of valuable insight and seminars with some of the world's pioneers of the Egyptian cultural arts, dance, music and writing. www.sphinxfestival.com
I am so looking forward to seeing many dance friends in Cairo again this Nov and Dec!
