THE KITTOs OF REDRUTH and MOONTA

The earliest ancestors of this family group that I feel I have been able to isolate is the family of Thomas Kitto and Margaret of Gwennap and Camborne. They appeared to have moved from Gwennap to Camborne in around 1768 and then to Redruth in about 1778, though some family members moved a few years earlier.

MINE ACCIDENT. -  On Monday, as Edward KITTO was at work in Ding Dong mine, Madron, a stone fell from the side of the shaft and struck him when at work fifty fathoms below, by which he was so dreadfully crushed that he expired in an hour afterwards

HARVEY and ANOTHER v. KITTO and ANOTHER  -  Mr. SIMMONS (for Mr. ROBERTS) for plaintiffs;  Mr. EDWARDS and Mr. HOCKIN for defendant.  In this case Messrs. COLLAN and James Harvey, of St. Day, claimed GBP47. 14s. 3d. balance of account, from the defendants, Francis Samuel Middleton Kitto and Thomas JEFFERY.  Both defendants would appear and consent to a verdict for that amount.  Mr. Edwards, for Kitto, consented; and Mr. Hockin consented for Jeffery.  Verdict for plaintiffs for the amount claimed.
