Charles and his wife came to Colorado in the early 1880's. Charles was a miner in Cornwall, England. They lived in Golden first and later at Caribou and finally at Gold Hill. Emma ran a boarding house in Gold Hill and Charles ran the stage between Salina and Gold Hill. When he died he was proprietor of the German House hotel. He purchased it July 1897. He had lost an eye in a mine accident. Emma ran the German House until 1910. He left a wife and two daughters Annie and Clara, ages 12 and 18. Emma came to Golden, CO a year or so after her husband Charles had arrived here to mine. 'When silver mining fell off due to adverse prices the Kittos moved to Gold Hill. He ran the stage between Salina and Gold Hill and Emma ran a boarding house. They came to Boulder and purchased the German House on 8th & Pearl. Emma operated that successfully for many years, then took over the Dewey Hotel on Broadway, later the A.A. Reed home at 1043 Pine and still later the former home of I.T. Earl at 1803 Pine. Fifteen years ago she moved to Denver.' Survived by dau Mrs. Clara E. Gregory and grandchildren Isabelle Chumbley and Dorothy Johnson, four sisters and 1 brother. She was buried in Columbia cemetery next to her two daughters, Elsie Kitto and Annie Chumbley. (Oct 2002 by Mary McRoberts & Boulder Genealogical Society).

Eleanor Hoerstmann was born to Victor and Catheryn (Schinstock) Hoerstmann. Eleanor Hoerstman married Joseph E. Vize on April 3, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa. Joseph Vize was born on December 4, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Joseph and Eleanor Vize lived at Dubuque, Iowa, and he was a tool and die maker at John Deere Dubuque Works for 35 years. He was a member of the John Deere Reirees and a the Tri-Statesmen Barbershop Chorus.

Joseph E. Vize, Sr., 65, of Dubuque, Iowa, died at 1:45 a.m., Monday, December 26, 1988, at Mercy Health Center, St. Joseph's Unit, in Dubuque. Family and friends called from 2 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, at the Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Funeral Home in Dubuque, where the wake service was said at 7 p.m. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 29, at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque, and burial was in Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, where graveside military rites were accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6.
Mr. Vize was survived by his wife, Eleanor; five sons, Richard Vize, Jerry Vize, Joseph Vize, Donald Vize, and James Vize, all of Dubuque, Ia.; four daughters, Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Schack, of Slidell, La., Mrs. Marion (Jean) Junk, of Mount Vernon, Ia., and Mary Ann "Bid" Vize and Mrs. Tony (Susann) Theisen, both of Dubuque, Ia.; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, John Vize and Robert Vize, both of Moline, Ill., and Larry Vize, of Orange City, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Marguerite KITTO, of Thornton, Colo. A son, Tom, died on November 4, 1952.
