bullet  General Notes:

From The Examiner (Launceston) Wednesday, May 29, 1912:
"General regret was expressed at Lisle Road when the sad news was known on Monday night that Mr C.F. Partridge, sen, had passed into the great beyond during the afternoon (writes our local correspondent). The end was, although rather sudden, quite expected, as the deceased had suffered an illness of only three days duration but had been ill on several occasions of late. The immediate cause of death was heart failure. The late Mr Partridge was a native of Tasmania, having been born at New Norfolk on September 12, 1846, therefore he was in his 66th year. The deceased followed farming pursuits during his early manhood, afterwards joining the Tasmania G.M. (Gold mining?) Company, Beaconsfield, as Manager in the Quartz reduction department during Mr Davies management. He also played a prominent part in the construction of four of the principal railways in Tasmania, viz, the Main, Western, Fingal and Scottsdale lines. Upon the completion of the latter he entered the services of the Tasmanian Government Railways as ganger, a position he filled for about 20 years, 14 of which were spent at Lisle Road. Upon retirement the deceased went upon the land, he having acquired a very nice farm overlooking the Forester River at Lisle Road, and was regarded as a successful and practical farmer. The late Mr Partridge was a prominent member of the I.O.O.F., M.U., having filled one of the highest offices attainable in the order. He had been a member of that body for upwards of 30 years. By his demise the residents have lost an esteemed neighbour, and the Anglican Church a loyal and devoted worker, whose place it will be hard to fill. His manly disposition and unassuming manner gained for him the respect of the whole community. Deep sympathy is extended to his sorrowing (?) wife and grown up family in their time of trial. The internment is to take place in Launceston today."
