The purpose of these web pages is to act as a report of "research in progress".

Although I have conducted a considerable amount of the research available on this site, many people have generously supplied information that combines to form this family tree. There are a number of things you should consider before using any of this my research:

• Some of the research material contained in these pages has been obtained from other researchers. I have done my best to acknowledge those people, and you should check the source citations before using any of the material on this site.
   
• The research shown here is only as reliable as the hands and eyes of the each transcriber. In some cases the information has been transcribed and retranscribed. The more reliable material will have been obtained from multiple independent sources. You should check these, and you should really go and read the source information for yourself. History is occasionally based on mistakes, especially when one author cites another who made the original mistake, then later authors cite the former and latter because they appear to agree! What's worse is when somebody who goes and checks the facts is disputed because it disagrees with so many other sources! Take care not to repeat any errors I have made.
