LEGEND ACOUSTICS

Kanga 2

The new Kangas are based on the extraordinarily successful Joey 2. They use the same aerogel mid-bass drivers that the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age described as producing " ....sound (that) was fabulous, particularly across the mid-band, where it was precise and unfailingly accurate" and " .....bass (that) was exceptional - we don't think we have heard so much bass from such small cabinets."

The Kanga 2s also use the same family of tweeter as the Joey 2s though with a super neodymium high performance magnet system to minimumise stray magnetic fields for TV use. They are therefore ideal for use as a centre speaker for home-theatre, particularly with the Joey 2s and the Kama 3s that share drivers to produce a very uniform surround sound field.

Like other Legend speakers, we have taken great care with the Kangas to minimise colouration, particularly resonances, that give many other speakers a 'warm but fuzzy' sound. The Kangas therefore start and stop with incredible speed and accuracy reproducing faithfully the lowest and highest level of detail. For home-theatre surround-sound work, this means you will hear the gentlest russle of grass or the true crack of a rifle. They can also reach very high sound levels with their two long-throw mid/bass units reproducing the loudest explosions with ease.

As well, the Kangas are excellent coventional stereo speakers as mini-towers eg on stands. Because the tweeter is offset from the centre to improve diffraction effects, the Kangas come in mirror pairs for stereo use. Diffraction effects are also improved by the frameless stretch-Lycra grille commom to all Legend speakers. The frequency response is very flat through the mid-band up to 1 kHz and thereafter varies by less than plus/minus 2 dB through the treble band up to 20 kHz. The Kanga 2s thus reproduce very faithfully the signal fed to them. If fed poorly recorded music or through poor front end electronics, then they will sound poor. Conversely, fed with well-recorded music (eg a Telarc SACD) through high quality front-end electronics, the Kanga 2s will sound superb.
