Sydney Morning Herald HOME ENTAINMENT GUIDE 2 February 1998.
MOST hi-fi buffs number Linn Products, of Scotland, among the world's best manufacturers of hi-fi components. Few know that an Australian speaker designer, Dr Rod Crawford, was once head of a design team that created many of Linn's best known loudspeakers. Dr Crawford recently returned to Canberra, where he designs and builds a range of loudspeakers. His company, Legend Acoustics, now has six models available. The Kurre is the smallest of them - a two-way loudspeaker that may be placed on a stand, bookshelf or wall-mount. It is unusual because of its inverted driver design. The tweeter is positioned beneath the bass/mid-range driver. Dr Crawford uses a complex dividing network in the Kurre to ensure he extracts the maximum performance from the Audax bass driver and Scanspeak tweeter. The Kurre has an extended frequency response that is notable for the clarity of its mid-range sound and the crystalline nature of the high-frequency registers.
