Faint...

A song to personify my disposition: Don't Stay (Linkin Park)

Recent events have led me to think about prayer. More specifically, how and what do we pray when something tragic happens to us:

Do we pray that God will make things better?
What's the point of that? God is sovreign, all things happen by His will, so whatever happens is up to His deciding anyway, you have no say.

Do we ask God why it happened?
Who are we to question what God does? Can you argue the validity of His actions? No, I don't think so.

Can we ask what we did to deserve it?
Who is without sin? We've all done something do deserve worse than whatever we're going through.

Do we ask Him to comfort us?
Isn't prayer suppose to bring comfort? But how can you find comfort in prayer if you don't even know what to pray for?

So at a time when we need Him the most, we don't even know what to say or ask for.

Great.

But then meditating on Christ's saving work on the cross, our own pin prick of pain pales in comparison.

Sorry God. And thanks.

Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.

Dumb Kids Cost Me Money

A song to personify my disposition: Neverland (F.I.R)

Yesterday I recieved a Infringement Notice for going 58km/h in a 40 zone in one of the major roads down near Kogarah during peak hour... WTH?! Okay, I totally disagree with having a 40 zone on such a busy road during the time of day where most pple are rushing to work...
Again our society chooses to favour the lowest common denominator. At the risk of sounding old, when I was in school none of my friends, or anyone in my school rather, got hit by anything (except for that idiot who was soccer in the bus lane, but he was ok cause the ball somehow managed to cusion his head from the bus)...
Kids are nymble and should be smart enuf to get out of the way of a moving object. Its actually the older pple who need help in this... as we get older our reaction slows and our hearing gets worse, so we have less chance of dodgy high speed objects. For example, a few years ago at UNSW a post-grad student was crushed by a truck. The truck was stationary and the breaks failed and eventually slid down the hill it was parked on and pinned the lady to a wall. As tragic as it was (I was there) I find it hard to envision how it could have happened... The truck would not have reached a great speed in that short distance and surely any normal person could have moved out of the way in time... and it was a BIG truck, so there's not really any chance of not seeing it coming towards you...
So what's my point? Well, if we don't teach kids to look where they are going then they will never develop these kind of skills later in life... Those who work in the city will know that it takes skill to efficiently walk through the city and not get run-over...
So stoopid laws like school zone speeds are making our society weaker. Another testimony that evolution doesn't really work for humans... cause from the looks of things stoopid pple are ever on the increase... and our society is always catering for the idiotic and weak...

Long Awaited Return

A song to personify my disposition: Hella Good (No Doubt)

Alright, after an absence of like 6 months, I've finally decided to blog again!

So what's happened to me since then? Absolutely nothing much...

Ok ok, so a few things happened... I went to NZ in August and China in Sep/Oct... My China photos can be found here or via the link at the side. I will put up some NZ photos soon too, the scenery there was awesome! I'll probably be back there in another 6 months.

Nothing else has really changed... I'm still a proud employee on Mac Bank and I'm still broke (WTH?!)...

Will gradually put more effort into making this blog look better, I lost all my pics when I uploaded all my China photos... And Haloscan deleted all my previous comments cause they'd probably been there way too long without and updates... =P

So for now, enjoy!

Shinigami

A song to personify my disposition: November Rain (Guns N' Roses)

Long time no post...
Recently been reading and getting into a manga called Bleach. It's about Shinigami (死神) or Death gods. Basically these shinigami are like the Grim Reaper. They come into our dimension to release souls into the next world (whether it be hell or heaven). There's a whole other world where these shinigami live (kinda like a parallel universe), and they all carry big ass swords around and have crazy powers.

So really, big swords and crazy fighting, what else could you want from a manga?! oh, and it's got a really good story line too...

Man, I need a sword and some super kung-fu powers! Gotta get me some 独孤九剑 skills like 令狐冲!!!
Haiiiii...

Champions!

A song to personify my disposition: We Are the Champions (Queen)

Yesterday we (Macquarie Bank) took out the finance challenge at the Chinese New Year corporate dragon boat races. Take that Westpac!

Update:
Days I lasted without Coke: 2
Days I lasted without beer: 4
Hmmm... At least its slightly more reassuring that I have more reliance on Coke than beer. But then again, the Coke was free... =P
